“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” is a comedic Broadway play later adapted into a motion picture. The plot is set in ancient Rome and revolves around the musical’s main character Pseudolus, a slave who wants to win his freedom by helping his owner, Hero, win the love of one of his neighbor’s courtesans. As a classic comedy, nothing goes as planned and complications abound. Elaborate plans, plagues, sleeping potions, virgins, lies, love, lust and cross-dressing make for a hilarious story with a happy ending for everyone.
In the final scene, the closing musical number “Finale” the company sings:
Free! Free! Free! Free! Free!
Nothing for kings, nothing for crowns.
Bring on the lovers, liars and clowns!
What is the moral?
Must be a moral.
Here is the moral, wrong or right:
Comedy, comedy, comedy, comedy,
Comedy, comedy, comedy, comedy tonight!
Morals tomorrow, comedy tonight. If you happened to catch “Real Time” with Bill Maher, I’m not so sure that what you witnessed was comedy or the Roman sport of Christians being thrown to the lions. Marc Maron – a comedian, and Dan Savage – a media pundit, struck pure comedy gold. It was hilarious! No really. Here are just few lines that had the leftist crowd rolling in the aisles (link 1 and link 2 – hat-tip to Breitbart.tv):
“but I just hope that [Michele’s husband] Marcus Bachmann takes all that, ya know, that rage that comes from repression and denial and brings it into the bedroom with her. I hope he f*cks her angrily, because that’s how I would. And I’ve thought about it.”
To which Dan Savage adds, that he’s thought of the same thing but with Rick Santorum. Aren’t you rolling in the aisles with them now? Even Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA Championship winning Dallas Mavericks yucks it up with them. Maverick fans might want to think twice before they rush out to buy that new jersey or re-up their season tickets. Your owner has a sick sense of humor! But hey, morals tomorrow, its comedy tonight!
Then Dan Savage drops an even funnier punch line: “I wish Republicans were F-ing dead!” Wow! I can barely type I’m laughing so hard. This is comedy hall of fame stuff here! Morals tomorrow, its comedy tonight for these left-wing comedians.
And, it doesn’t end here. This may seem like a low point for a normally PC preaching crowd; but it is not. A couple of years ago Michelle Malkin recapped a Playboy article, “Top 10 Conservative Women We Hate to Love” or as it is better known as “conservative women he’d like to hatef@ck.” In this link you will see that the article garnered a “Shenanigans: The Lighter Side of Politics” headline from Politico. Morals tomorrow, its comedy tonight! Who knew rape of conservative women was the lighter side of politics?
It seems that they save the best for conservative women and the defenseless. Sarah Palin’s son Trig was targeted in a “satirical” piece by Wonkette, “Greatest Living American: A Children’s Treasury of Trig Crap On His Birthday” which made fun of his Down Syndrome on his birthday. Come on, who can’t find comedy in Down Syndrome kids of Conservative women? Right? Comedy, comedy, comedy, comedy tonight!
The comedic playbook of Liberals making fun of Conservatives and Republicans shows they want flesh and blood – morals be damned! Their comedy is bloodsport. It is lions tearing apart Christians on the floor of the Colosseum while they drink wine from the stands and cheer in gory delight. This is comedy tonight! Is this the “new tone” that Obama spoke about in Tuscon after the tragic shooting of Rep. Gifford? New tone or old tone, this type of vile blood thirsty humor towards Conservatives has been going on for years. Here are just a few more examples of knee-slapping humor from Liberal comedians:
Bill Maher (just this past weekend):
“And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim…a know it all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdo’s straight out of The Hills Have Eyes, that’s not sexist. I’m saying it because it’s true, not because it’s true of a woman.”
“So of course, my mother loves Palin and it drives me F–king insane.
‘You shouldn’t be so hard on that little Sarah Palin! She’s a real strong woman like you!’
Really? Really? So Sarah Palin’s going to talk to me about what it’s like to work in a men’s industry? Uh, try being a stand-up comic for one night. And by the way, Palin, suck my d@#k while you’re at it.”
Janeane Garofalo on the Tea Party: “…a bunch of teabagging rednecks”
And we can keep going and going with this gutter humor – which is being generous to gutters. This is the preferred way to attack Conservatives. Why? Because while the left strictly holds the right to political correctness run amok, they believe that right or wrong, it is comedy tonight and morals tomorrow for them.
With that I close with one thought, really just one wish. That a real journalist would stand up and ask President Obama, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid just how should someone explain “Tea-Bagger” or Tea-Bagging” to their daughter, their mother or their grandmother? Do we have any takers?
